FAQ
How many people are in The L Train Brass Band?
We're a modular group and can be configured as a 12 person jazz ensemble or a 50+ piece marching band, depending on the event. We will typically perform with 15-25 members. Our entire collective is ~110 members, not counting our many friends, family, dancers, and artists that regularly support and collaborate with us.
Will you play at my (wedding, birthday, benefit, parade, etc.)?
YES, YES, YES, and YES! The L Train Brass Band has performed at weddings, corporate events, private events, parks, parades, music festivals, and clubs throughout the Tri-state area.
What kind of songs do you play?
Our repertoire includes the sounds of mardi gras with traditional NOLA brass band music, coupled with Motown, pop, hip-hop, and original songs. Our sets are high-energy and always lead to dancing! At our shows, you are likely to hear a Baltic Britney Spears cover, a traditional song, some weird originals, and some Marvin Gaye, back to back.
Our set times are negotiable, so this is largely up to you! However, we typically keep our sets under an hour.
How much does it cost to book the band?
Our exact fee is dependent on many factors, including our availability, transportation needs, length of performance, and nature of the event. Please message booking@ltrainbrass.com and somebody will respond within 48 hours to discuss your event.
There’s a song I really want to hear at my event! Do you take requests?
We accept requests and set list guidance for private and corporate events. We typically want all requests in writing as early as possible so we can nail your request.
YES! If we’re playing at a venue that is family-friendly, then you can rest assured we’ll be good, clean fun for the whole family. Regardless, we always read the room and we can play for any occasion :)
How far will you travel to play my show?
We typically perform in NYC and the Tri-state area. However, we are open to increasing our range based on client budget and availability. We also perform in New Orleans once a year!
